Service includes an evaluation of the ear canal using an otoscope. If a wax plug is visible in the ear canal, it is rinsed out using warm water and Jane syringe. After rinsing, the ear canal is re-evaluated with an otoscope until the desired result is achieved. If the wax plug cannot be rinsed out, the physician assistant will write an e-prescription for medication that will need to be dripped into the ear and then the procedure must be repeated if necessary. If, upon evaluation of the ear canal, it turns out that there is no wax plug, but there is inflammation, the physician assistant will write an e-prescription for medication that will alleviate the patient's condition. In such a case, the patient will be recommended to see an ENT specialist if the complaints do not disappear within few days. A physician assistant may also recommend an ENT visit if an unexpected/unclear finding is seen with an otoscope.
